What age springs to mind when someone is described as being “old”? This is an interesting question because as we get closer to that age, it continues becoming older. While someone in their 30s may seem ancient to us when we are young, someone in their 70s may seem young to us when we are 50 or older.
The misconception that “old” individuals lose their enthusiasm for life as they age is shared by many people. By publishing a husband-wanted ad in the newspaper, this 70-year-old widow refutes that idea.
A 70-year-old widow who was feeling lonely made the decision to remarry. She published an ad in the neighborhood paper that read:
“Wanting husband! Must fall within my age range, not outdo me, not bully me, and still be a nice sleeper. Please apply in person for all applicants.
The doorbell rang the next morning. She was shocked when she opened the door and saw a man with gray hair seated in a wheelchair. He lacked legs and limbs.
You’re not really requesting that I give you any thought, are you? “Just look at you – you have no legs,” the widow said.
The elderly man grinned and said, “Therefore, I cannot run around on you!”
“You don’t have any arms, either!” She laughed.
Because of this, I can never defeat you, the elderly guy grinned once again.
“Are you still good in bed?” she said with a raised eyebrow.
“I rang the doorbell, didn’t I?” the elderly guy remarked, leaning back and grinning broadly.
