The activist was removed from the audience by security after shouting at Cruz for denying the existence of climate change, which has harmed the careers of Texas farmers.
The interruption caused ABC to take The View off the air for a commercial break. The activist was revealed to be from Extinction Rebellion NYC, who claimed responsibility for her protest.
This sparked “Occupy Park Avenue,” a series of four days of climate change protests across New York City. Two more activists interrupted Cruz while he spoke to the hosts of The View. Host Whoopi Goldberg addressed the interruptions with kindness, asking them to leave and let them do their job.
